Former Vice President Kamala Harris called for expanding the Supreme Court and altering the Electoral College during an appearance on Keke Palmer's podcast Tuesday.

Harris said Democrats should pursue more justices on the high court once they win back the House and Senate. She argued the move would help the court better reflect constitutional principles.

"I believe that we need to expand the Supreme Court. We need more justices on the Supreme Court so that we can have a court that actually reinforces the spirit and principles behind the Constitution of the United States," Harris stated.

She also pushed changes to the Electoral College, emphasizing that the popular vote must carry greater weight. Harris linked the proposals to broader structural reforms, including statehood for Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C.

The comments come as Harris k. She lost both the Electoral College and the popular vote to President Donald Trump in the 2024 election.

Legal experts have warned that such institutional changes could set dangerous precedents for future administrations of either party. Expanding the court requires legislation passed by Congress and signed by the president, while altering the Electoral College would demand a constitutional amendment.

Harris has floated similar ideas in earlier appearances this year, including at the National Urban League conference in July. Republicans have criticized the proposals as attempts to consolidate power after electoral setbacks.
