The NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation announced Monday night that Jay-Z will headline the Super Bowl LXI halftime show.

The performance is scheduled for February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The announcement aired during halftime of the Dallas Cowboys-Philadelphia Eagles game on Monday Night Football through an Apple Music video featuring the rapper seated in the stadium with the message "GOAT's out of the bag."

Jay-Z, whose company has produced the halftime show since a 2019 partnership with the league, selected himself for the role. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said the league had long hoped for the performance. "For several years, we’ve had the privilege of working closely with Jay-Z and Roc Nation, and I’ve seen the extraordinary impact he has had on the Super Bowl Halftime Show," Goodell stated. "When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that Jay-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him."

In his own statement, Jay-Z reflected on the milestone. "From 'Reasonable Doubt' to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey," he said. "Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world's biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true."

The 56-year-old Brooklyn native has not previously performed at a Super Bowl halftime show. Roc Nation has helped shape recent performances, including Bad Bunny's 2026 set. Jay-Z recently concluded the final shows of his Jay-Z 30 tour at SoFi Stadium, marking a return to the venue for the big game.

Super Bowl LXI will air on ABC and ESPN. Speculation about the headliner had circulated for weeks before the official confirmation.
