More than 375,000 DREO electric space heaters sold in the United States and Canada are being recalled because they can overheat and catch fire, creating risks of property damage and serious injuries.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall Thursday, Oct. 29, covering approximately 338,800 heaters sold in the United States and another 36,300 sold in Canada.
Hesung Innovation Corp., which operates under the DREO brand, has received 17 reports of the recalled heaters igniting. Three incidents resulted in property damage, while another caused a consumer to suffer a burn injury to the hand.
The recall involves DREO ceramic electric space heaters, model DR-HSH015. The units are black and circular, measuring approximately 11.5 inches wide and 13 inches tall. They also come with a remote control and display the DREO name on the front.
Only heaters manufactured between April 2025 and January 2026 are included in the recall. Consumers can identify the affected units by checking the label on the underside of the heater, which lists the model number and manufacturing date in year/month format.
The heaters were sold at Costco stores nationwide and through several online retailers, including Dreo.com, BestBuy.com, Kohls.com, Lowes.com, QVC.com, HomeDepot.com, B2BRenew.com and Costco.com. Sales occurred between September 2025 and October 2026, with retail prices ranging from approximately $70 to $110.
Federal safety officials are urging consumers to stop using the recalled heaters immediately and contact DREO to arrange a free replacement. Consumers should not continue operating the units while waiting for the replacement to arrive.
As part of the recall process, customers will be instructed to unplug their heater and destroy it by cutting its electrical cord. They must then follow the company's directions
Additional information and replacement instructions are available at DREO's safety website, where customers can select “PRODUCT RECALLS” at the top of the page, or through the dedicated recall website at recallrtr.com/spaceheater.
The recall serves as a warning to consumers who rely on portable electric heaters as colder weather approaches. Anyone who owns a DREO model DR-HSH015 manufactured during the affected period should verify whether their unit is included and follow the company's instructions rather than continuing to use it.
