More than 700 young people chose to follow Jesus Christ during a Christian outreach event Tuesday at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, while approximately 100 students were baptized following the gathering.

The event, held at the Holmes Convocation Center, was organized by Unite US, a ministry that has been visiting college campuses nationwide to share the gospel and encourage students to embrace Christianity.

Unite US described the gathering as an opportunity for students and members of surrounding communities to come together in worship and prayer. Before the event, the ministry encouraged attendees to invite their friends and roommates to participate in the free gathering.

Students who attended expressed their enthusiasm afterward, with one writing online, “God was so present last night. Best night ever!”

The event is part of a broader campus outreach effort that Unite US says has reached more than two dozen college campuses since its first gathering at Auburn University on September 12, 2023. The ministry reports that more than 100,000 students have experienced its events during that period.

Unite US describes itself as a movement of college students seeking to lift up the name of Jesus Christ, with its events centered on worship, prayer and sharing the Christian faith.

The gathering also comes amid reports of renewed interest in Christianity among younger Americans. In May 2025, reports highlighted young people participating in revival gatherings and baptism events across the United States and other Western countries.

Following the September 2025 assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, his organization also reported increases in church attendance and Bible sales, adding to attention surrounding the role of faith in American public life.

The turnout at Appalachian State offers another example of a large group of college students gathering around Christian worship, as campus ministries continue efforts to reach young people with the gospel.
