Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) called for the public execution of Lindsay Clancy during a Monday interview with TMZ DC.

Mace said Clancy, who is accused of killing her three young children in 2023, "should be dead too" and deserves the death penalty carried out publicly. "She should get the death penalty. It should be public. It should be a public execution," Mace stated.

When pressed on the method, Mace suggested it could be by firearm or electric chair. "I don't really care," she added. She described the execution as a potential "warning to women everywhere" that "you don't kill your kids."

The comments came amid discussion of Clancy's recent mistrial and her attorney's request for a presidential pardon from President Donald Trump. Mace called the pardon effort a "publicity stunt" that was "nasty" and "ugly."

Clancy, a former labor and delivery nurse from Duxbury, Massachusetts, admitted to strangling her children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and eight-month-old Callan, with exercise bands in the basement of their home in January 2023. Her defense has argued she was not criminally responsible due to severe postpartum psychosis and bipolar disorder.

Her trial ended in a mistrial earlier this month after the jury deadlocked, with reports indicating an 11-1 split favoring a not guilty by reason of insanity verdict. A hearing in the case is scheduled for later this month.

Massachusetts does not have the death penalty. Trump has indicated he cannot pardon Clancy because the case is under state jurisdiction.

Mace has previously described Clancy as a "monster“ that deserves nothing less than the death penalty.
