A Texas man drove his SUV into a Rosenberg Kroger early Sunday after becoming upset that the store was closed and he could not get inside to use the bathroom, according to police.

The incident happened around 4:30 a.m. Sunday at the Kroger store in Rosenberg, Texas, when police said the driver intentionally accelerated his Chevrolet Equinox into the building.

According to the Rosenberg Police Department, the man told officers he needed to use the bathroom and became upset after discovering that the store's doors were locked.

Police said the SUV crashed into the pharmacy entrance, causing extensive damage to that portion of the store.

The circumstances surrounding the driver's decision to use his vehicle to enter the building were not immediately clear beyond his stated need to use the bathroom.

Authorities did not say whether the driver was injured in the crash.

Police also did not announce whether the man was arrested or what criminal charges, if any, he could face as a result of the incident.

The Rosenberg Police Department addressed the unusual crash in a social media post, joking that while they understood the urgency of needing a bathroom, there were safer options available.

“I guess when you gotta go, you gotta go,” the department said, while advising people to find a store that is open for business when they need to use the restroom.

The crash left the Kroger's pharmacy entrance with significant damage, though police did not provide an estimate of the cost or say when repairs would be completed.
