The Department of War launched Starshield AI's Grok for Government on its GenAI.mil platform on Monday. The addition expands the suite of frontier AI capabilities available to military and civilian users across the department.
Starshield AI's Grok for Government received accreditation for Controlled Unclassified Information at Impact Level 5. The system supports secure enterprise use and provides features such as deep-thinking inference, adaptive reasoning modes including Auto, Fast, and Expert, customizable workspaces, persistent projects, and reusable playbooks to capture institutional knowledge.
Department officials stated that the tool will deliver productivity gains, improved knowledge continuity, and more secure collaboration. It enables faster mission execution and greater precision in tasks ranging from market research analysis for acquisition professionals to supply chain management for logisticians.
GenAI.mil launched nine months ago and has already onboarded more than 1.7 million unique users from the department's total workforce of over 3 million personnel. The platform now includes multiple AI models to avoid vendor lock-in and strengthen the domestic AI ecosystem.
This deployment advances the department's AI Acceleration Strategy and supports enterprise AI applications for the Joint Force. It builds on prior integrations and reflects ongoing efforts to equip personnel with advanced tools for daily operations and decision-making.
