Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg published a detailed 6,500-word manifesto on Monday outlining his vision for artificial intelligence centered on individual empowerment and open-source development.

The essay, titled "The Future is for Everyone," argues that the primary risk from advanced AI stems from concentrated control by governments, companies, or even the technology itself rather than from widespread access. Zuckerberg positioned Meta's approach as a counter to more restrictive models, calling for AI systems that deliver "personal superintelligence" to users.

In the document, Zuckerberg stressed that American leadership in AI development would deliver greater prosperity and security compared to geopolitical rivals such as China. He recommended policies to accelerate U.S. progress, including faster infrastructure builds and measured regulation that avoids slowing American companies.

Meta simultaneously released a new open AI model available for developers to use and modify. The company also committed to establishing a $1 billion fund to support communities hosting its data centers.

Zuckerberg has long championed open-source strategies at Meta, and the manifesto extends those principles to AI. He contended that distributing powerful models broadly creates checks and balances while fostering innovation across society.
