Google has told suppliers it will stop manufacturing its Pixel smartphones, smartwatches and wireless earbuds in China beginning in 2027. The move comes as the company accelerates efforts to diversify its supply chain away from China amid ongoing U.S.-China tensions.

Nikkei Asia reported the development on Tuesday, citing sources familiar with the matter. Google has already begun expanding production capacity in Vietnam and India in recent years. Successful production of high-end Pixel smartphones in Vietnam this year gave the company confidence to advance the full transition timeline.

Vietnam is set to handle a growing share of output, while India is expected to take on a larger role in assembling more advanced models. The company has been kitting out facilities, including an old Nokia factory in Vietnam, to support the shift.

A significant portion of Pixel device output still occurs in China, but Google has moved aggressively to reduce that reliance. The tech giant did not respond to requests for comment on the report.

The changes align with broader industry trends, as other U.S. firms seek to build more resilient supply chains outside China. Production of Pixel devices is slated to ramp up fully in the new locations over the coming year.
