A temporary monument in Washington, D.C., is displaying the names of more than 41 million American veterans and service members from the Revolutionary War to the present day.

The National Military Monument, sponsored by USAA, features two 18-foot-tall stone structures resembling billowing American flags. Hundreds of LED screens within the stripes illuminate the names. The installation sits on the Lincoln Memorial Plaza and runs through August 23.

It opened July 28 as part of celebrations marking the nation's 250th birthday. Visitors can search for specific names using an online tool linked to the monument.

The exhibit blends traditional monument design with digital technology. Double-sided flags incorporate the illuminated screens to present the vast roster of those who served.

Reports indicate the monument will remain on display for a limited time to allow public access during the anniversary period. It stands as a tribute to generations of military personnel across all branches and conflicts.
