A wildfire known as the Bike Fire broke out Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles County and quickly prompted evacuation orders for several zones in Santa Clarita. The blaze had grown to approximately 172 acres by Sunday evening and stood at 12 percent containment at that time.
Authorities issued evacuation orders for zones including SCL-SANDSOUTH-B, SCL-NADEU-A and SCL-SULTUS. Additional zones received evacuation warnings. Officials directed residents to check alert systems for specific instructions and established an evacuation center at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita.
The fire's cause remains under investigation. No injuries or structure damage had been reported as of the latest updates. Crews continued to battle the blaze amid dry fuels and critical fire weather conditions.
Nearby incidents include the Bouquet Fire, which started October 3 and reached 1,048 acres before reaching 93 percent containment. All evacuation orders associated with that fire were lifted earlier in the week. The Danny Fire, which ignited October 8 near Lebec, also saw evacuations lifted by Monday.
Fire officials urged motorists to exercise caution near active incidents and reminded the public of ongoing red flag warnings across the region. Residents were advised to monitor local alerts for any changes in evacuation status.
