A memorial statue honoring Charlie Kirk was vandalized overnight from Saturday into Sunday outside Turning Point USA’s headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona, just three days after the organization unveiled it to mark the first anniversary of Kirk’s death.

The eight-foot statue was sprayed with red paint, while a nearby memorial poster was also defaced. Images from the scene showed paint smeared across the statue, including a frowning face painted on its chest.

Turning Point USA posted on X regarding the incident, including shocking pictures of the vandalism.

The statue was unveiled Thursday outside Turning Point USA’s Phoenix headquarters as part of commemorations marking one year since Kirk was fatally shot while speaking at a Turning Point event at Utah Valley University in Utah. Kirk was 31 years old.

The bronze statue depicts Kirk wearing a shirt with the word “FREEDOM” across the front. Turning Point USA had placed it outside its headquarters as a permanent memorial to its co-founder and longtime leader.

Phoenix police are investigating the vandalism. Authorities had not publicly identified a suspect or announced a motive as of Sunday. Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

The vandalism occurred just days after the first anniversary of Kirk’s assassination, which has prompted memorial events and tributes across the country. Turning Point USA also unveiled another statue honoring Kirk during the anniversary period.
