The New York Giants defeated the Dallas Cowboys 28-20 on Sunday night, opening the 2026 season with a win in the first meeting between the NFC East rivals.

Quarterback Jaxson Dart led the Giants' offense in his first season opener, completing 23 of 29 passes for 230 yards and three touchdowns without throwing an interception. He also added 57 yards rushing on 10 carries.

Tight end Isaiah Likely was Dart's top target, catching eight passes for 78 yards and two touchdowns. Malik Nabers, returning to action after missing most of the previous season with a torn ACL and meniscus, added six receptions for 69 yards.

Running back Cam Skattebo also played a major role for New York, rushing 18 times for 81 yards and a touchdown. The Giants controlled much of the game on the ground, finishing with 397 total yards compared with 244 for Dallas.

Dak Prescott threw for 175 yards, two touchdowns and an interception for Dallas. CeeDee Lamb caught five passes for 44 yards and a touchdown, while running back Javonte Williams scored twice, once on the ground and once through the air.

Dallas continued to battle late, cutting the Giants' lead to eight points with a touchdown from Prescott to Williams with just over five minutes remaining. New York, however, controlled the clock on its final possession and moved into Dallas territory before running out the clock.

The victory gives the Giants an early division win under new head coach John Harbaugh, while Dallas begins the season with a loss in a game that remained competitive into the final minutes.
