No. 5 Indiana defeated Northwestern 29-23 Friday night at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana, improving to 4-0 on the season while extending its strong start against Big Ten competition. Indiana controlled much of the game offensively, finishing with 472 total yards compared with 325 for Northwestern.

The Hoosiers excelled due to their ability to move the ball on the ground. Running back Lee Beebe Jr. provided Indiana's biggest offensive performance, rushing 24 times for 203 yards and a touchdown. His 70-yard run helped set up Indiana's offense for a scoring opportunity, while quarterback Josh Hoover added a rushing touchdown of his own.

Hoover completed 19 of 29 passes for 201 yards and a touchdown without throwing an interception. His touchdown pass went to Nick Marsh for an eight-yard score, helping Indiana build an early advantage.

Northwestern struggled to generate much offense through the first half, trailing 12-0 at halftime. The Wildcats finally broke through in the third quarter when quarterback Aidan Chiles connected with Griffin Wilde for a four-yard touchdown.

Northwestern continued to fight in the fourth quarter, with Chiles adding a rushing touchdown and throwing another touchdown pass to Wilde. The Wildcats cut into Indiana's lead, but the Hoosiers answered with two fourth-quarter touchdowns to keep control of the game.

Chiles finished with 293 passing yards and two touchdown passes while also rushing for a score. Wilde caught six passes for 56 yards and two touchdowns, but Northwestern could not complete the comeback.

Indiana's victory keeps the Hoosiers unbeaten and adds another conference win to a season that has quickly established the team as a major factor in the Big Ten.
