Katy Perry’s concert movie, “Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour, Live from Paris,” opened in 150 British theaters but attracted minimal audiences, grossing only about $28,400 at the U.K. box office.
That works out to roughly $189 per theater. The film cost approximately $5.4 million to produce and was shot during two sold-out Paris concerts using a 60-camera setup. Promoters marketed it as a communal event for Perry’s “KatyCats,” yet the turnout fell well short of expectations.
Oasis released its own concert film the same weekend and opened in the millions, underscoring the gap in audience interest. The weak results come after years in which Perry has maintained a highly publicized celebrity profile beyond her music career. She has been involved in legal disputes over a Los Feliz convent and a Montecito mansion, and she generated headlines after joining a Blue Origin spaceflight that lasted roughly 11 minutes. Her personal life, including her relationship with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, has also drawn extensive media coverage.
Despite still commanding millions of listeners on streaming platforms, the U.K. box-office numbers suggest far fewer fans were willing to pay to see her concert on the big screen.
