Rep. Rich McCormick, R-Ga., and Rep. Beth Van Duyne, R-Texas, have ended their romantic relationship, bringing their time as a congressional couple to a close.

Sources with direct knowledge of the matter told TMZ that the two lawmakers called it quits, although it is not clear when the breakup occurred. The sources also said there is no bad blood between the Georgia and Texas Republicans.

McCormick confirmed that the two remain on good terms, saying he has “a great relationship with her” and will continue to be “the best friend” he can be. Van Duyne has not publicly commented on the split.

The relationship became public in May 2024, shortly after McCormick filed for divorce from his second wife, Dr. Debra Miller. At the time, Van Duyne said she and McCormick were “happily engaged in a relationship” and said McCormick’s marriage had already been over for some time.

McCormick has three sons from his first marriage, while his marriage to Miller lasted 12 years. The couple had been separated before McCormick filed for divorce in May 2024.

McCormick and Van Duyne continued to appear together in Washington after their relationship became public. In July, the pair were asked about the challenges of maintaining a relationship while serving in Congress. McCormick acknowledged that relationships can be difficult in Washington, saying, “DC makes it easy.”

Neither lawmaker has indicated what led to the breakup. For now, McCormick has characterized the relationship between the two as remaining positive despite the end of their romance.
