House Speaker Mike Johnson raised $30 million during the third quarter, bringing his total fundraising for House Republicans to $156 million during the current election cycle, according to figures shared with Axios.

Johnson’s team said the total represents the most raised by a Republican House speaker or leader at this point in an election cycle. His fundraising operation has generated more than $220 million for House Republicans since he became speaker in October 2023.

More than $91 million has been distributed to Republican members, candidates, committees and state parties during the current cycle. That includes $46 million sent to the National Republican Congressional Committee, putting Johnson on pace to make the largest election-cycle transfer to the committee by a Republican House speaker or leader.

Johnson has also directed $21.5 million to Republican incumbents and $7 million to GOP challengers.

“We are focused on getting unprecedented resources to the Districts that will decide the majority. With this continued momentum, we are in place to defy history and defend the House to save America from the far-left,” Johnson said.

The fundraising push comes as Republicans work to maintain their House majority in the 2026 midterm elections. Johnson is also visiting more than 40 congressional districts across 22 states during the final stretch of the campaign.

Republicans maintain a financial advantage at the party-committee level as well. The NRCC ended August with $13 million more cash on hand than the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, its largest such advantage at that point in an election cycle.

Despite the fundraising edge, several recent race-rating changes indicate that more House contests are becoming competitive. The Cook Political Report shifted 15 House races toward Democrats last month, while Sabato’s Crystal Ball moved 11 races in the same direction days later.

Many of the most closely watched contests are in districts President Donald Trump carried in the 2024 presidential election, making the Republican effort to retain the House particularly consequential.
