Kentucky Republican and former Senate Leader Mitch McConnell has been discharged from his rehabilitation center and is expected to return home.

In a statement released on Thursday by McConnell’s office, it reads, “On the advice of my doctors, I’ll maintain an intensive regimen of physical therapy from home during the state work period, and I’ll continue to engage with my staff and colleagues on important Senate business.”

The 84-year-old senator was hospitalized mid-June after reportedly suffering a fall. Roughly a month later, he was moved to a rehab facility where he has resided until now.

His absence was felt nationally and in the Senate, as calls from elected officials like Kentucky Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear sought any status update on whether he could remain in office or would resign if he could not.

Although not publicly seen, McConnell’s office shared two photos of his recovery during rehabilitation.

His office has not given any specific date for his return to the Senate.
