Republican Ken Paxton holds a narrow lead over Democrat James Talarico in the Texas Senate race, while Republican Gov. Greg Abbott leads Democratic challenger Gina Hinojosa by nearly five percentage points, according to a new poll released Friday by Quantus Insights.

The survey, conducted October 26-28 among 1,221 likely voters, found Paxton receiving 48.7% support compared with 47.6% for Talarico, giving the Republican attorney general a 1.1-point advantage. Libertarian candidate Ted Brown received 1.4%, while 2.2% of respondents remained undecided. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.2 percentage points.

When undecided voters who expressed a preference were allocated, Paxton led Talarico 49.4% to 48.4%. In a two-candidate matchup, Paxton received 50.6% support compared with Talarico's 49.4%.

The survey also found Abbott leading Hinojosa 50.7% to 45.8%, a 4.9-point advantage for the incumbent governor. Libertarian candidate Pat Dixon received 1.2%, while 2.3% were undecided.

With leaners allocated, Abbott's lead increased to 51.6% against Hinojosa's 46.3%. In a two-candidate matchup, Abbott led 52.5% to 47.5%.

The demographic breakdowns showed substantial differences between the candidates' support among men and women. In the Senate race, Talarico led among women by seven points, while Paxton held an 11-point advantage among men. In the governor's race, Hinojosa led among women by three points, while Abbott led among men by 13.

The poll also showed sharp racial and ethnic divisions. Paxton led Talarico among white voters by 25 points, while Talarico led among Black voters by 71 points and Hispanic voters by 23 points.

In the gubernatorial contest, Abbott led among white voters by 28 points. Hinojosa held advantages of 68 points among Black voters and 19 points among Hispanic voters.

Compared with its October 9-11 survey, Quantus Insights found Paxton's advantage over Talarico had increased from half a percentage point to 1.1 points. Paxton's support rose by 1.5 points during that period, while Talarico gained 0.9 points. The share of undecided voters declined from 3.9% to 2.2%.

The results come with Election Day approximately one week away, leaving the Senate contest within the poll's margin of error. The survey represents Quantus Insights' final Texas polling release before voters decide the state's Senate and gubernatorial races.
