Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich called for a full-scale war in the West Bank on Sunday, urging the military to repeat its Gaza operations by dismantling the Palestinian Authority and eliminating terror infrastructure.

In an interview with Ynet News, Smotrich said Israel should "go to war in Judea and Samaria" and "do there what we did in Gaza." He described the Palestinian Authority as a "terror authority" and demanded that the IDF be instructed to ensure "no terrorists, no weapons, no tunnels" remain in the territory.

Smotrich also advocated clearing out Palestinian refugee camps in the West Bank, similar to recent operations that emptied three such camps. He tied the proposal to recent incidents, including attacks using vehicles as weapons.

The remarks come amid heightened security concerns in the West Bank, where Israeli officials have reported increased threats from armed groups. Smotrich pointed to data from Shin Bet showing large numbers of illegal weapons in Israel's Arab sector.

Smotrich further called for annexing parts of Gaza up to the Yellow Line and southern Lebanon up to the Litani River, arguing that wars ending on original borders fail to deter future aggression.

The statements were made ahead of Israel's October 27 general election. The Palestinian Authority's foreign ministry condemned the comments as a call for war and annexation.

Israeli forces have conducted operations against terror infrastructure in the West Bank in recent months, including evacuations of camps for security reasons.
