President Donald Trump endorsed Congressman Randy Feenstra for governor of Iowa on Friday, calling him a “Highly Respected America First” leader and a “MAGA all the way” candidate.
In a Truth Social post, Trump praised Feenstra’s record as a fourth-generation Iowan, successful businessman, former state senator, and current U.S. Congressman. He highlighted Feenstra’s commitment to growing the economy, cutting taxes and regulations, supporting American energy and farmers, securing the border, and defending the Second Amendment.
Feenstra said he was “honored and humbled” by the endorsement. “President Trump is the greatest President of my lifetime,” he stated, adding that he looks forward to implementing Trump’s America First agenda as governor.
The Iowa Republican gubernatorial primary is scheduled for June 16 and features a crowded field including State Rep. Eddie Andrews, businessman Zach Lahn, former State Rep. Brad Sherman, and former Director of Iowa Administrative Services Adam Steen.
Democrats quickly criticized the endorsement. Iowa Democratic Party spokesperson Terra Hernandez called Feenstra “weakened” and “deeply unpopular,” claiming he has sided with insiders over working families.
Trump’s endorsement is expected to carry significant weight in the deep-red state, where he has won by large margins in recent elections. Feenstra now enters the final stretch of the primary with the president’s complete and total backing.
