Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said Thursday that President Donald Trump has followed through on every commitment he made to Kennedy, despite criticism from some of Kennedy’s former Democratic allies.

“Some of my Democratic friends told me that I was a fool for trusting President Trump,” Kennedy said during his remarks at the Republican Midterm Convention in Dallas. “And so, I want to make the record clear right now: President Trump has kept every single promise that he made to me without exception.”

Kennedy’s comments highlighted the political shift that brought him from the Democratic Party to Trump’s administration. Kennedy ran for president as an independent in 2024 before suspending his campaign and endorsing Trump.

Trump subsequently nominated Kennedy to serve as Secretary of Health and Human Services, a position Kennedy has used to advance his “Make America Healthy Again” agenda, including policies focused on nutrition, chronic disease and federal health policy.

Kennedy has repeatedly pointed to his relationship with Trump as a reason for supporting the administration despite his previous political affiliation. His remarks on Thursday were part of a broader speech in which he discussed government health policies, constitutional rights and his views on national security.
