President Donald Trump announced Sunday that Katie Zacharia, his newly selected White House press secretary, will begin her duties Monday, Oct. 12, with her first news conference scheduled for Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the White House press briefing room.

Trump shared the announcement on Truth Social, praising Zacharia’s long-standing connection to his political movement and expressing confidence in her ability to represent the administration.

“I am pleased to announce that Katie Zacharia will be beginning her term as Press Secretary tomorrow, Columbus Day, and will be doing an introductory News Conference on Tuesday at 9:30 A.M. from the Press Briefing Room in the White House,” Trump wrote. “Katie has been with me, in spirit, from the very beginning, and will do a fantastic job!”

The White House announced Zacharia’s selection Friday, naming her the next official spokesperson for the administration. She will become the 37th White House press secretary, taking on the role as the administration continues communicating its policies and accomplishments to the public.

Zacharia previously served as a senior communications adviser at Truth Social and Trump Media & Technology Group. Her move to the White House places her in a central role in the administration’s relationship with the press, including briefings, questions from reporters, and public messaging on presidential policies.

In a statement following her selection, Zacharia described the appointment as an “honor of a lifetime,” connecting the position to the country’s upcoming 250th anniversary.

“Serving President Trump and the American people at this critical 250-year mark is the honor of a lifetime,” she wrote.

She praised Trump’s leadership and said she intends to focus on communicating the administration’s record to Americans.

“The work ahead is to continue delivering strong results for our Country and communicating to the American people the major wins that this Administration is making every single day,” Zacharia wrote. “I look forward to working with the White House press corps, and with reporters across the country, to get that record out.”

Zacharia, 41, is a mother of four. Trump also praised her while speaking with reporters as he departed the White House on Friday, describing her as a friend to many members of the press corps.

“She’s a friend of most of you. I know she likes people. She likes all of you, actually,” Trump said. “I don’t know if that’s good or bad … she’s going to be, I think, terrific.”

Her first briefing Tuesday will provide an early opportunity to establish her approach to the daily exchanges between the White House and reporters as she takes over one of the administration’s most visible communications positions.
