President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani on Monday at Gracie Mansion, the mayor's official residence on Manhattan's Upper East Side.

Mamdani's office confirmed the meeting on Sunday and said it will focus on issues affecting New York City and New Yorkers. The White House has also confirmed the gathering will take place.

This marks the third in-person meeting between the two. They first met in the Oval Office in November 2025 shortly after Mamdani's election victory, followed by a second session in February. The upcoming discussion occurs as Trump visits New York for the United Nations General Assembly, where he is expected to deliver remarks on Tuesday.

Mamdani, a democratic socialist and member of the Democratic Socialists of America, won the 2025 mayoral election and took office on January 1, 2026. He is both the city's first Muslim and Asian American mayor. During the campaign, Trump had strongly opposed Mamdani and described him in harsh terms, yet the two have developed a relatively cordial working relationship since the election.

Previous meetings addressed topics including housing, affordability, and other priorities for the city. Mamdani has stated that conversations with the president continue through in-person sessions, phone calls, and other channels as long as they help deliver results for New Yorkers.

The meeting comes amid Mamdani's efforts to address the city's budget challenges and implement campaign promises including rent freezes and expanded childcare funding. Trump, a native New Yorker, has maintained direct engagement with the mayor despite their differing political backgrounds.

No specific time or detailed agenda has been released for Monday's session.
