The U.S. Treasury Department imposed fresh sanctions on Wednesday against Indian individuals, companies, and a Turkish firm for their support of Iran, continuing the Trump administration's aggressive campaign to isolate the regime economically.

The designations target a maritime fraud network run by India-based Suniel Kumar Sharma and his wife Jaspreet Preeti Shahid, along with associated entities and individuals. Treasury described it as a "vast criminal network" that provided false flags and certifications to vessels transporting Iranian petroleum, including those linked to the Iranian military and its proxies.

Nine entities connected to the couple were also sanctioned, including companies involved in ship management and registries that misused identities from countries such as Guyana, Eswatini, and Laos. Two additional Indian nationals heading businesses tied to the network faced designations as well.

Separately, Turkey-based Fugo Ground Services Inc. was sanctioned for providing ground handling and other services to several U.S.-designated Iranian airlines operating in Turkey, including Iran Air Tour, Saha Airlines, Taban Airlines, and Ata Airlines.

These actions fall under Operation Economic Outcast, which aims to sever Iran's ability to fund its activities through oil sales and other revenue streams. Treasury noted that prior sanctions have already driven the Iranian rial to new lows and pushed domestic inflation near 90 percent.

The move underscores the administration's commitment to pursuing sanctions evaders wherever they operate, with officials warning that supporters of Tehran will be targeted by land, sea, or air. The sanctions block U.S. persons from dealings with the designated parties and freeze any assets under U.S. jurisdiction.

India and Turkey have faced repeated scrutiny over commercial ties to Iran in recent years, though both nations maintain diplomatic and trade relations with the United States. The latest designations highlight ongoing challenges in enforcing sanctions against third-country facilitators of Iran's shadow economy.
