Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk of betraying Ukraine in an interview with Piers Morgan, alleging that the United States and SpaceX deliberately restricted Starlink access and caused deadly consequences for Ukrainian forces.

Zelenskyy claimed the cutoff disrupted both offensive operations and defensive efforts, arguing that the loss of satellite connectivity interfered with Ukraine’s ability to intercept attacks and protect lives.

“This decision will bring a lot of human losses. Of course, people will die,” Zelenskyy said.

He further alleged that the decision was deliberate, asserting that Starlink had been blocked by SpaceX and the United States around 1 a.m.

“I am sure they knew what they did, absolutely,” Zelenskyy said.

The Ukrainian leader also accused Trump of betraying him, declaring that the United States was abandoning a partner and placing itself on the wrong side of history.

“This is not the right side of history,” Zelenskyy said. “It is a pity that we are losing a strong partner.”

When asked whether he was angry with Musk, Zelenskyy replied that the billionaire was wrong and called the decision “a big mistake.”

However, Zelenskyy’s accusations place the responsibility for Ukraine’s battlefield difficulties squarely on Washington and Musk, without establishing the full circumstances behind the reported Starlink disruptions or independently demonstrating how many deaths resulted from them.

Starlink has played a significant role in Ukraine’s military communications since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022. The satellite network has supported battlefield coordination and drone operations, making access to the service an important factor in Ukraine’s military capabilities.

Zelenskyy’s comments also come amid broader tensions over the future of American support for Kyiv and the Trump administration’s approach to ending the war. His public criticism of the president and Musk risks further straining relations with two figures whose decisions can significantly affect Ukraine’s access to American assistance and privately operated technology.

Rather than focusing solely on the operational circumstances surrounding the Starlink cutoff, Zelenskyy framed the dispute as a question of betrayal and historical judgment, seeking to hold Washington and Musk responsible for the consequences Ukraine says it faces.
