Actor Bruce Campbell, best known for playing Ash Williams in the Evil Dead franchise, says doctors have given him an estimated five years to live following his cancer diagnosis earlier this year.

Campbell, 68, discussed his health during an appearance on The Adam Carolla Show this week. When host Adam Carolla asked whether his prognosis meant he had five years to live, Campbell responded, “Give or take.”

Campbell first revealed his cancer diagnosis in March, describing the disease at the time as “treatable” but “not curable.” He has not publicly identified the type of cancer he has.

Despite the prognosis, Campbell said he does not intend to allow the disease to consume his life. He explained that he has chosen to “live with it, not die from it” and said he does not want to become consumed by what he described as the “cancer rabbit hole.”

The actor also said medical treatments could continue to improve during the coming years, giving him reason to remain hopeful. He has continued working while undergoing treatment, including promoting his new film Ernie & Emma, which he wrote, directed, and stars in.

Campbell previously said his diagnosis would require him to scale back some professional appearances and commitments while focusing on treatment. He has continued to speak openly about his condition while keeping specific medical details private.

For now, Campbell says his focus is on continuing to live his life rather than allowing his prognosis to define it.
