Amazon has removed all books authored by Raymond “R.C.” Horsch from its platform after determining the works violated company content guidelines.

The action comes amid an ongoing Philadelphia police investigation linking Horsch's former Olney home to the disappearances of at least seven women, with five feared dead based on recovered digital evidence. Horsch, an erotic photographer and filmmaker known for violent and sadomasochistic themes, died in May 2025 at age 82.

Police have recovered more than 10,000 pages of Horsch's writings, manuscripts, and drawings, along with over one million photos and videos from the property now owned by his son, Eugene Horsch. One book under review, titled "Empathy," is presented as fiction but describes the autobiography of a serial killer, including scenes of drugging and choking a woman. Investigators noted its contents have drawn renewed attention given the case details.

The investigation began after Eugene Horsch's June arrest on unrelated gun and drug charges, which led authorities to the rundown Chew Avenue house. Evidence includes images appearing to show women injured or lifeless, and videos that police say may depict real violence, though some material appears staged for films. No human remains have been recovered, and no one has been charged with murder.

Horsch had a prior criminal history including forgery and drug manufacturing convictions. Authorities continue to review the extensive digital files with FBI assistance to determine which depictions are authentic.

The removals occurred more than a year after Horsch's death, following public reports on the writings connected to the case.
