Sen. John Fetterman said he will not campaign against Sen. Dave McCormick in 2030 if the Republican chooses to run for reelection.

Fetterman made the comments in an interview with the Washington Examiner. “Well, I would absolutely never move against my friend,” he said, referring to McCormick as a “great guy.”

The pledge comes amid growing signs of cooperation between the two Pennsylvania senators. They have appeared together on multiple occasions, including joint interviews and events focused on state issues. Their campaigns also launched a bipartisan joint fundraising committee earlier this year.

McCormick, who took office in 2025 after winning election the previous year, faces voters again in 2030. Fetterman, elected in 2022, is up for reelection in 2028. Both remain in their first terms.

The unusual cross-party gesture highlights Fetterman’s independent streak within the Democratic caucus. It also underscores the personal rapport the senators have developed despite their partisan differences.

Observers have noted the pair’s frequent alignment on certain Pennsylvania priorities, including economic and defense matters. Their public appearances have drawn attention as examples of bipartisanship in a polarized Senate.

Fetterman stopped short of saying he would endorse McCormick, focusing instead on his refusal to oppose him directly.
