Hitler Mussolini Simeon Flores, a 45-year-old candidate for the center-left Ahora Nación party, won the mayoral race in the small Andean district of Queropalca, Peru. He received 229 votes, or 34.54 percent of the 663 valid ballots cast, defeating his nearest rival by 25 votes.
The runner-up, Gaspar Benilde Osorio Zambrano of the right-wing Renovación Popular Perú party, received 204 votes. Third place went to Itala Yovana Santillán Vara of the center-right País para Todos party with 187 votes. The top three candidates were separated by just 42 votes in total. Slightly more than 700 residents participated in the election in the district, which has a population of just over 730.
Flores was born in Queropalca in the Huánuco region, about 360 kilometers from Lima. His candidate profile lists him as the manager of the Simeon Sac Investment Group. He previously belonged to the right-wing Popular Force party led by President Keiko Fujimori before resigning in 2025 and running under the Ahora Nación banner.
The name Hitler Mussolini has drawn international attention due to its association with the 20th-century dictators Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini. Local media noted a prior case in Peru, where a man named Hitler Guesclin Alba Sánchez won a mayoral race in Yúngar in 2018.
Flores's victory awaits formal proclamation by Peru's electoral authorities. The results highlight how local elections in remote districts can produce unusual outcomes despite limited voter turnout.
