Kyle Larson captured his 19th career victory in the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series by winning the Andy's Frozen Custard 340 Saturday night at Texas Motor Speedway. Driving the No. 88 JR Motorsports Chevrolet, Larson led a race-high 93 laps and defended his win from a year ago at the 1.5-mile track.
Justin Allgaier finished second in the No. 7 JR Motorsports entry, 0.293 seconds behind, securing a 1-2 finish for the team. Allgaier led 54 laps and won Stage 1 wire-to-wire over 45 laps. Sam Mayer placed third, followed by rookie Brent Crews in fourth and Parker Retzlaff in fifth. Crews earned a $100,000 Dash 4 Cash bonus as the top eligible finisher.
The 200-lap race featured seven cautions for 36 laps amid early chaos. A five-car wreck erupted on Lap 1 when Hendrick Motorsports driver Corey Day crashed hard into the Turn 2 wall after starting sixth on the outside. "Starting outside, you’ve got to run up there through the first corner... I was all good, and all of a sudden I’m sideways, and there’s no saving it," Day said. Additional early cautions involved spins by Tay. Gray, Landen Sawalich, Austin Green, Mason Maggio, and Brad Perez.
Connor Zilisch won Stage 2 before pitting under green later with a flat tire, finishing 21st. A three-wide battle for the lead on Lap 105 between Larson, Crews, and Zilisch through Turn 4 resulted in contact but no major damage. "I thought for sure it was going to be big," Larson said.
Rajah Caruth's crash off Turn 2 on Lap 179 triggered the final caution. Larson led the restart on Lap 184 from the bottom lane, with Allgaier advancing to second. Allgaier pressured Larson from the top lane over the final 17 green-flag laps but could not overtake.
"I really didn’t think I had a chance there with Justin behind me... Thanks to him for racing me clean," Larson said post-race. Allgaier added, "Without contact, I don’t know if there was any way to get around him... JR Motorsports 1-2, obviously that’s a big deal."
The victory marked JR Motorsports' seventh win in the first 12 races of the 2026 season. Allgaier extended his series points lead to 121 over Sheldon Creed, who finished sixth. Post-race inspection passed Larson cleanly, though the No. 9 JR Motorsports car of Carson Kvapil and the No. 26 Sam Hunt Racing Toyota of Dean Thompson each lost pit stall selection for the next race due to unsecured lug nuts.
The O'Reilly Auto Parts Series heads to Watkins Glen International on May 9 for the next event.
