Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell's National Democratic Congress secured a second consecutive term Thursday with a decisive victory in Grenada's general election.
Provisional results showed the NDC winning 14 of the 15 seats in the House of Representatives, a gain of five from the nine seats captured in the 2022 contest. The opposition New National Party, led by Emmalin Pierre, took the remaining seat in St. George North West.
The NDC received 61 percent of the popular vote with 37,369 ballots, compared to 36.84 percent or 22,567 votes for the NNP. Voter turnout reached 63.49 percent among 97,031 registered voters.
The outcome marks the first time the NDC has won back-to-back elections, ending a historical pattern of single-term governments for the party. Mitchell first took office in June 2022 after defeating the long-ruling NNP.
Election officials reported that 46 candidates from eight parties contested the 15 constituencies. Minor parties including the Democratic People's Movement received the balance of votes but won no seats.
Mitchell's expanded majority provides a strong mandate to advance his administration's agenda on economic development, infrastructure, and governance reforms. The results reflect broad voter support for continuity in leadership.
