The Seattle Seahawks delivered a statement victory Sunday night, defeating the Kansas City Chiefs 20-3 and handing Kansas City its first loss of the season.
Seattle’s defense controlled the game at Lumen Field, limiting quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offense to just 213 total yards and a single field goal. The Seahawks also shut down the Kansas City running game, preventing the Chiefs from finding any offensive rhythm.
Wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba led Seattle’s passing attack with nine receptions for 150 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Sam Darnold completed 20 of 28 passes for 257 yards and a score, helping the Seahawks build a 10-0 halftime lead.
Running back Emanuel Wilson added 100 yards on 24 carries and sealed the victory with a 21-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter. Seattle finished with 410 total yards and converted 11 of 16 third-down attempts, sustaining drives and keeping Kansas City’s defense on the field.
The Chiefs struggled to respond throughout the contest. Mahomes threw for 165 yards and an interception, while Kansas City managed just 50 rushing yards as a team. The offense’s only points came on Harrison Butker’s 50-yard field goal in the third quarter.
The win improved Seattle’s record to 4-3 and snapped a two-game losing streak. Kansas City fell to 5-1 after opening the season unbeaten, as the Seahawks delivered one of their strongest performances of the year on national television.
