Texas Rangers have obtained multiple search warrants targeting the owners of Camp Mystic as part of an ongoing criminal investigation into the deadly flood at the all-girls Christian camp that killed more than two dozen.

Camp Mystic operated for generations as a private summer camp along the Guadalupe River in Kerr County, Texas. On July 4, 2025, heavy overnight rains caused the river to rise rapidly and flood low-lying areas of the property. Twenty-five campers and two counselors died in the disaster.

Court documents show that investigators are examining possible charges of manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, injury to a child, and abandoning or endangering a child. The warrants, signed by a Kerr County judge, seek iCloud data, text messages, location records, and other electronic information from members of the Eastland family who managed the camp.

The probe centers on the camp's preparedness and response. Affidavits state that officials monitored flood alerts yet failed to evacuate campers from vulnerable cabins. Records indicate the camp lacked a required written emergency plan and had not conducted drills. One filing claims leaders "consciously disregarded a substantial and unjustifiable risk of death to the campers in their care."

Richard "Dick" Eastland, the longtime executive director, died during the flood while attempting to rescue campers. His wife, Willetta "Tweety" Eastland, and other relatives including Edward Eastland and Mary Liz Eastland are named in the warrants. Several family members declined to speak with investigators earlier.

The Eastland family appeared before state lawmakers in April, expressed regret, and later abandoned plans to reopen the camp. The facility filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in June amid civil lawsuits from victims' families alleging gross negligence.

No charges have been filed as of yet. Attorneys for the family have not issued statements regarding the latest warrants and the investigation remains active.
