The HBO Max medical drama The Pitt secured another major victory Monday night at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, winning Outstanding Drama Series for the second year in a row.

The hour-by-hour look at an emergency room in Pittsburgh entered the ceremony as the frontrunner. Series creator R. Scott Gemmill accepted the award alongside cast and crew members. He thanked the hundreds of people involved in the production and emphasized the importance of storytelling in changing lives.

Noah Wyle, who stars as chief attending physician Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch, won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for the second consecutive year. Wyle has also served as an executive producer, director, and writer on the series.

The Pitt received 25 nominations this year, the most of any show. Its second season, which premiered in January, tackled topics including ICE enforcement, unassisted pregnancies, sexual assault, and addiction while following the staff through a chaotic shift on the Fourth of July.

The ensemble cast turned out in force for the red carpet at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Attendees included Wyle, Katherine LaNasa, Patrick Ball, Shabana Azeez, Supriya Ganesh, Sepideh Moafi, Fiona Dourif, Isa Briones, and Gerran Howell. The show had already picked up several Creative Arts Emmys earlier in the month, including a guest actor win.

Season 3 of the series is slated to premiere in January 2027. Production began this summer.

Other nominees in the drama series category included The Diplomat, The Gilded Age, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Paradise, Pluribus, Slow Horses, and Your Friends & Neighbors.
