The Detroit Lions provided an encouraging update Monday on linebacker Jack Campbell, who remains hospitalized after suffering a frightening injury during Sunday's 19-15 victory over the Minnesota Vikings.
"Jack Campbell continues to rest and recover at a local hospital. Preliminary indications are positive, and out of respect for Jack and his family, we will not share further information at this time," the team announced.

Campbell was injured early in the fourth quarter while making a tackle on Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson at Ford Field. He remained down on the field for several minutes as medical personnel attended to him before he was placed on a backboard and transported off the field on a cart. The Lions subsequently confirmed he was taken to a local hospital for evaluation of a neck injury.
The incident prompted an emotional response from players on both teams, with Lions teammates and coaches gathering around Campbell as he was taken off the field. Head coach Dan Campbell said after the game that Jack was breathing and alert when he left the stadium, but the team initially had no additional information about his condition.
The linebacker remained hospitalized overnight for further evaluation and monitoring. Monday's statement is the first indication from Detroit that the preliminary results have been positive, although the team has not disclosed a diagnosis or provided details about the extent of the injury.
Campbell, a key part of Detroit's defense, earned All-Pro recognition last season after recording more than 150 tackles and signing a four-year contract extension earlier this year. The organization has asked for privacy as he continues to receive medical care.
