A fresh survey from Ipsos bva-CESI for La Tribune Dimanche shows President Emmanuel Macron's popularity has sunk to a new low of 16 percent favorable opinions, five points below its July level. Eighty-one percent of respondents now view his performance unfavorably, a seven-point increase.

The poll, conducted online September 9-10 among 1,000 adults, marks the weakest rating for Macron since he took office in 2017. Even his core centrist supporters in the Renaissance, MoDem, and Horizons parties have cooled sharply, with only 53 percent expressing positive views, down 19 points.

Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu fares little better, registering 20 percent favorable ratings after dropping seven points. All ministers remain underwater, led by Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin at 38 percent.

Economic pressures drive much of the discontent. Purchasing power difficulties top voter concerns at 54 percent, followed by the future of the social system at 40 percent. Immigration and the environment each register at 31 percent, with debt and deficits close behind at 30 percent.

The broad rejection extends to the 2027 presidential race. The survey found widespread dissatisfaction with potential candidates across the spectrum. Former Prime Minister Édouard Philippe saw negative ratings climb 12 points to 57 percent. Similar skepticism greeted other figures, including Gabriel Attal.

Macron's term ends in 2027, and the poll underscores eroding support for the current leadership amid ongoing budget struggles and stagnant living standards. The results reflect a public increasingly skeptical of establishment figures as the succession contest begins to intensify.
