The Green Bay Packers defeated the New York Jets 20-17 in overtime on Sunday in Week 2 of the NFL season at rainy MetLife Stadium.

The Jets took an early lead in the first quarter. Geno Smith connected with Garrett Wilson for a 15-yard touchdown pass, and the Jets added a Jason Sanders field goal later in the period to lead 10-0 at the end of the first quarter.

The Packers responded in the second quarter. Jordan Love threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Romeo Doubs to get Green Bay on the board. The Jets extended their lead before halftime when Braelon Allen scored on a 4-yard rushing touchdown, sending the teams into the locker room with New York ahead 17-7.

The third quarter remained scoreless as both defenses tightened up. The Packers forced a punt and a turnover on downs but could not capitalize on the opportunities.

The fourth quarter brought the Packers' comeback. With under eight minutes remaining, Love found Christian Watson for a 3-yard touchdown pass to narrow the deficit to 17-14. A strong punt return of 63 yards by Skyy Moore positioned the Packers for a game-tying 34-yard field goal by Trey Smack with about three minutes left in regulation.

In overtime, the Jets received the ball first but went three-and-out after the Packers defense recorded a sack and forced an incompletion. On the ensuing drive, the Packers advanced into field goal range. Smack connected on a 26-yard field goal to give Green Bay the 20-17 victory. Love finished with two touchdown passes.

The Packers improve to 1-1 on the season, while the loss puts the Jets also at 1-1 on the season.
