Russian drone strikes killed at least eight civilians across Ukraine in attacks reported earlier this week. Two civilians died when drones hit the Starokozache border crossing with Moldova in the Odesa region, according to regional governor Oleh Kiper. The strikes caused a fire and temporarily halted operations at the crossing.

In Kherson, separate drone attacks killed a 73-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman. Additional strikes in the Zaporizhia region killed a 34-year-old man and injured another person. An early-morning assault on Mykolaiv killed one person and wounded five others while damaging homes and businesses.

Ukrainian officials described the incidents as part of Russia's continued targeting of civilian areas. Investigations into possible war crimes have been opened in some cases. The attacks come amid ongoing fighting in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, with civilian casualties reported in multiple regions.

Air defenses intercepted many incoming drones, but some struck their targets. Operations at the affected border crossing resumed later the same day.
