The No. 4 Texas Longhorns pulled off a stunning comeback Saturday night, rallying from a 23-3 deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat No. 1 Ohio State, 24-23, at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin. Texas scored three unanswered touchdowns in the final quarter, with Hollywood Smothers' 1-yard touchdown run with 25 seconds remaining completing the comeback.

Quarterback Arch Manning led the late rally after Texas struggled to move the ball for much of the game. Manning finished 23-of-37 passing for 196 yards and a touchdown, while also adding 23 rushing yards. He repeatedly converted critical fourth downs as the Longhorns kept their comeback alive.

Smothers was equally important on the ground, carrying the ball 21 times for 74 yards and two touchdowns. His final 1-yard touchdown run put Texas ahead for the first time all night and capped a fourth quarter in which the Longhorns scored 21 unanswered points.

Texas also received important contributions through the air. Emmett Mosley V caught five passes for 67 yards, while Ryan Wingo caught a 3-yard touchdown pass during the fourth-quarter comeback. Cam Coleman added four receptions for 49 yards.

Ohio State had controlled the game for most of the night and entered the fourth quarter with a 20-point advantage. The Buckeyes were led by quarterback Julian Sayin, who threw for 273 yards and a touchdown, while star receiver Jeremiah Smith recorded eight catches for 164 yards and a touchdown.

Texas scored three times in the fourth quarter, with the final touchdown coming with less than a minute remaining. Ohio State was unable to answer, allowing the Longhorns to complete one of the biggest comebacks in recent program history.

The victory gives Texas a major early-season win over the nation's top-ranked team and gives Manning and the Longhorns a memorable win in front of their home fans. It also gives Texas some revenge after Ohio State had won the teams' previous two meetings.
