A woman was shot Thursday afternoon outside the Republican Party of Virginia's headquarters in Richmond after a dispute at a hair salon across the street, according to police. The woman is expected to recover, and authorities say the shooting was unrelated to the Republican Party or its political operations.

The shooting occurred at approximately 1:45 p.m. outside The Obenshain Center on East Grace Street, which houses the state Republican Party's offices. Richmond Police Chief Rick Edwards said the incident stemmed from an ongoing dispute between a hair salon owner and an employee.

According to Edwards, the employee arrived at the salon in an aggressive manner during the confrontation. The owner, who said he felt threatened, fired a gun, striking a woman who was standing across the street outside the Republican Party headquarters.

People canvassing nearby brought the wounded woman inside The Obenshain Center, where she received assistance until emergency medical personnel arrived. She was subsequently transported to a hospital. Police said she is expected to survive.

The Republican Party of Virginia confirmed that all of its staff members were safe and said there was no indication the shooting had any connection to the organization's activities.

Police identified 34-year-old Dorian Evans of Richmond as an employee involved in the dispute. Authorities said Evans fled before officers arrived and are seeking him on charges of attempted murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Investigators are also searching for the other employee involved in the confrontation, who may have been wounded during the incident, according to local reporting by WWBT.

The investigation remains ongoing as Richmond police work to locate the individuals involved and determine the full circumstances surrounding the shooting.
