FBI Director Kash Patel vowed on Sunday that his agency will soon make arrests connected to claims of manipulation in the 2020 presidential election. Speaking on Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures," Patel stated the FBI has gathered sufficient evidence in collaboration with the Department of Justice.
"I can announce on your show that we’ve got all the information we need. We’re working with our prosecutors at the Department of Justice and their attorney general, Todd Blanche, and we are going to be making arrests, and it’s coming. And I promise you, it’s coming soon," Patel said. He added, "They tried to rig the entire system. That's something I'm not going to allow."
Patel claimed the evidence supports former President Donald Trump's assertions that the election was compromised. "We have the information that backs President Trump's claim," he said, hinting at developments this week: "Stay tuned this week. You might see a thing or two." The director emphasized his commitment to election integrity, stating he would not allow future interference.
The announcement comes amid heightened Justice Department scrutiny of election processes. On Saturday, the DOJ's civil rights division demanded 2024 election ballots from Wayne County, Michigan, citing concerns tied to 2020 irregularities. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson rejected the request, calling it an overreach. Similar demands have targeted voter rolls in over two dozen states and records from Arizona's Maricopa County and Georgia's Fulton County, sites of past fraud allegations.
Earlier this year, the FBI executed a search warrant at Fulton County's election office, a location central to 2020 complaints. Patel has defended the action, stating the bureau had probable cause. Investigations in Minnesota have also led to arrests related to voter fraud schemes, though not directly tied to the presidential outcome.
Trump has long maintained the 2020 election was stolen through widespread fraud, claims rejected by courts, state officials, and his first-term Justice Department. More than 60 lawsuits were dismissed for lack of evidence, and audits confirmed Joe Biden's victory. No systemic fraud altering the result has been proven.
Democrats and election watchdogs have criticized the probes as politically motivated attempts to undermine confidence in elections. Michigan officials accused the DOJ of weaponization. Despite prior debunkings, Patel's leadership has prioritized voter fraud cases, reporting a 490% increase in related arrests.
As acting Attorney General Todd Blanche oversees the DOJ following Pam Bondi's departure, the administration continues to push for transparency in voting records. Patel's pledge marks the most direct signal yet of forthcoming action from federal law enforcement on lingering 2020 disputes.
