Republican Representative Jimmy Patronis of Florida's 1st Congressional District told country-rap artist Jelly Roll he is not welcome in the Panhandle after the singer delivered multiple jokes about President Donald Trump's weight and approval ratings while guest-hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live! This week.

Patronis posted the rebuke on X on Wednesday. "Jelly Roll is 100% not welcomed to Florida’s panhandle," the congressman wrote. "I don’t even want to see his bus on I-10. He’s always been the token ‘country’ star the libs in California are allowed to enjoy. (He ain’t country, never was.) Take the TDS elsewhere, loser."

Jelly Roll returned as guest host of the ABC program for the second summer in a row on Monday. During the opening monologue, he referenced his own reported 300-pound weight loss and compared it to Trump, citing a Washington Post report on the president's recent physical that noted a 14-pound gain. "That means I’ve lost an entire Donald Trump," Jelly Roll said. "And let’s be honest, based on his approval ratings, it seems like most of the country wants to do the same thing."

The performer also joked about Trump's appearance waving a flag at an IndyCar race in Washington, D.C., and closed with a crude line: "Well, Mr. President, from one fat pig to another, take it from me that physical fitness is very important. And trust me, you’ll be happy to see your p*nis again." He played clips of Trump previously commenting on others' weight.

Patronis, who won a special election in 2025 with Trump's endorsement, had previously welcomed Jelly Roll to a Gulf Coast event in 2024. The congressman's district covers much of the Florida Panhandle.

Jelly Roll addressed the backlash during Tuesday's episode, noting surprise at the reaction and joking that he had gotten in more trouble with the president than Rosie O'Donnell. The singer has previously said he is not particularly political, but has met Trump in the past.

The exchange highlights ongoing tensions between some country music figures and conservative audiences over public criticism of the president.
