Jamie Ding, a bureaucrat and law student from Lawrenceville, New Jersey, extended his dominant run on "Jeopardy!" to 31 consecutive games by winning Friday's episode. He earned $33,002 in that game, bringing his regular-season total to $882,605 and placing him fifth all-time in both consecutive games won and regular-season winnings.
Ding returns tonight for his 32nd game, one victory shy of tying James Holzhauer's 32-game streak from 2019. A win on Tuesday would give him 33 consecutive victories, surpassing Holzhauer and elevating Ding to fourth place on the all-time list, behind only Ken Jennings (74), Amy Schneider (40), and Matt Amodio (38).
The Princeton graduate, raised in the Detroit area, has averaged about $28,500 per game during his streak. At that pace, he could surpass $1 million in regular-season winnings by the end of this week if his run continues. Currently fifth on the regular-season money leaderboard, Ding trails Jennings ($2,520,700), Holzhauer ($2,462,216), Amodio ($1,518,601,) and Schneider ($1,382,800).
Ding has drawn praise for his humble demeanor amid the streak. Fans and media have called him the "nicest" champion, and he recently shared plans to use some winnings for family support and law school. Host Ken Jennings has acknowledged Ding's impressive performance during his run.
His ascent places him among "Jeopardy!" greats on the official Leaderboard of Legends. Ding overtook Cris Pannullo's $748,286 for fifth in winnings and Mattea Roach's 23-game streak for fifth in consecutive wins. The streak began in late March, with Ding surviving close calls, including narrow Final Jeopardy victories.
"Jeopardy!" episodes air weeknights on local stations including ABC and CBS affiliates nationwide, and Ding's quest for history resumes tonight.
