Fairshake, a cryptocurrency industry super PAC, has committed $30 million in opposing former Sen. Sherrod Brown (D) in Ohio as he continues his bid to return to the United States Senate.

The group plans to begin television advertising and direct-mail efforts Tuesday targeting Brown, who is challenging Republican Sen. Jon Husted in Ohio. Fairshake spokesman Geoff Vetter confirmed the spending, which represents the group’s largest investment against a single candidate during the 2026 election cycle.

Fairshake previously spent roughly $40 million opposing Brown in 2024, when Republican Bernie Moreno unseated the three-term Democrat senator. Brown was then chairman of the Senate Banking Committee and had taken a skeptical position toward the cryptocurrency industry as lawmakers considered new digital-asset regulations.

The latest spending comes shortly after the Senate failed to advance the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, a major priority for the cryptocurrency industry. Fairshake and its affiliated groups have remained active in congressional races as the industry seeks lawmakers supportive of its preferred regulatory framework.

Fairshake is primarily backed by cryptocurrency companies and investors, including Coinbase, Ripple Labs and Andreessen Horowitz. The organization says its political activity is bipartisan, although its largest expenditures during the current cycle have generally supported Republicans or opposed Democrats.

Brown has moderated some of his public comments about cryptocurrency during his Senate comeback campaign. He has said digital assets have a role in the economy while maintaining that the industry should not be allowed to write its own regulations.

The $30 million commitment adds to the substantial outside spending already surrounding the Ohio Senate race. Fairshake said it expects to announce additional spending as the November general election approaches.
