LSU coach Lane Kiffin made his highly anticipated return to Oxford on Saturday night as the No. 7 Tigers faced No. 8 Ole Miss at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The Rebels entered the game unbeaten at 2-0, while LSU was also 2-0.

Kiffin spent six seasons leading Ole Miss before leaving for LSU after the 2025 season. His return drew significant attention throughout Oxford, with Ole Miss fans booing their former coach and displaying signs mocking his departure. Security was also increased around the game because of the heightened tensions surrounding Kiffin's return.

Ole Miss controlled the first half, taking a 10-0 lead in the opening quarter before quarterback Trinidad Chambliss connected with Traylon Ray for a 21-yard touchdown. Chambliss later found Deuce Alexander for a 20-yard score, giving the Rebels a 24-7 halftime advantage.

LSU fought back in the second half. Quarterback Sam Leavitt rushed for a touchdown and later connected with Winston Watkins Jr. for a 26-yard score, cutting the Ole Miss lead to 24-21. LSU tied the game at 24-24 on a 23-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter.

Ole Miss answered with the decisive touchdown when Chambliss rushed for a 14-yard score with 6:14 remaining. The Rebels then converted a two-point attempt to take a 32-24 lead and held LSU scoreless the rest of the way.

Chambliss completed 33 of 48 passes for 363 yards and two touchdowns while adding a rushing touchdown. Traylon Ray led Ole Miss with seven catches for 115 yards and a touchdown, while Deuce Alexander added seven receptions for 60 yards and a score.

Ole Miss finished with 432 total yards and 25 first downs while committing one turnover. LSU managed 271 total yards and 15 first downs. Leavitt completed 16 of 27 passes for 158 yards and one touchdown while rushing for 63 yards and another score. Dilin Jones added 106 rushing yards and a touchdown for the Tigers.

The victory moved Ole Miss to 3-0 and gave the Rebels an early SEC win against a top-10 opponent. LSU fell to 2-1 after entering the game undefeated, while Kiffin's first return to Oxford ended with his former team handing him a loss.
