Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna has won reelection in Florida’s 13th Congressional District, defeating Democratic challenger Leela Gray and independent candidate Tony D’Arrigo to retain her seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Luna, first elected in 2022, represents a district centered in Pinellas County, including much of the St. Petersburg area. A member of the House Freedom Caucus and a prominent supporter of President Donald Trump, Luna has built a national profile through her positions on border security, government spending, election integrity and congressional accountability.
Before entering Congress, Luna served in the United States Air Force and worked as a political commentator. She previously ran for the same congressional seat in 2020, losing to then-Rep. Charlie Crist before returning two years later and defeating Democrat Eric Lynn. Her 2024 reelection campaign also ended in victory, when she defeated Democrat Whitney Fox.
Gray, the Democratic nominee, challenged Luna on healthcare, economic policy and the congresswoman’s record in Washington. Gray won the Democratic primary in August, defeating Brandt Robinson and John Liccione. D’Arrigo ran as an independent, offering voters an alternative to the two major-party candidates.
The race attracted significant campaign spending from both major-party candidates. Federal campaign finance figures through October 14 showed Luna had raised approximately $4.35 million and held nearly $747,000 in cash. Gray raised approximately $2.92 million and reported roughly $656,000 in cash on hand. D’Arrigo reported substantially less campaign funding.
Luna’s victory continues Republican representation in the district, which has become an important part of the GOP’s congressional coalition in Florida. She posted on X Tuesday evening acknowledging her victory.
I am honored to have been re-elected as the Congressional Representative from FL-13’s Congress district to serve in the 120th Congress.
