Emergency crews responded Sunday to a reported plane crash near Military Trail and 10th Avenue North in Greenacres, Florida, after flames, thick black smoke, and debris were seen across the roadway.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue described the situation as an “extended incident” and closed Military Trail to all traffic between Cresthaven Boulevard and 10th Avenue North. Officials urged drivers to stay away from the area and find alternate routes.

Early local reports indicated that a small aircraft crashed into a mobile home, although authorities had not publicly confirmed the aircraft type or released details about what caused the crash. Area hospitals were reportedly placed on alert for a potential mass-casualty incident.

A local report later indicated that no individuals had been transported to area hospitals as of approximately 1:39 p.m. Sunday. It remained unclear how many people were aboard the aircraft or whether anyone was inside the mobile home when the crash occurred.

Video and images from the scene showed a large fire, heavy smoke and wreckage scattered across the area.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies were contacted for additional information. The circumstances surrounding the crash and any injuries or fatalities had not been officially confirmed in the available reports.

The incident remains under investigation, and Military Trail is expected to remain closed while emergency personnel work at the scene.
