President Trump’s Thursday schedule is set to begin with meetings with Chinese President Xi as the two leaders address U.S.-China relations and other issues. The visit comes more than a decade after Xi’s previous visit to the White House and marks the second meeting between Trump and Xi within six months.

While Trump handles the presidential meetings, First Lady Melania Trump is scheduled to host Xi’s wife, Peng Liyuan, at the Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art. The visit is part of the cultural diplomacy surrounding the state visit.

The diplomatic schedule will conclude Thursday evening with Trump and the First Lady welcoming Xi and Peng at the White House for a state dinner in the East Room. The guest list is expected to include prominent figures from the technology, business and financial sectors, including Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Apple CEO Tim Cook, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

The breadth of the schedule underscores the range of issues surrounding the summit, with trade, rare earth minerals, artificial intelligence and broader U.S.-China relations among the subjects expected to receive attention.

The White House has presented the visit as a major diplomatic engagement, with the three-day state visit running through Friday. Trump and Xi are scheduled for additional events Friday before Xi departs the United States.
