Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned Monday that Russia is preparing a new massive attack on Ukraine, primarily targeting energy and logistics infrastructure, timed to take advantage of global attention on Tuesday's U.S. midterm elections.

In an evening address and social media post, Zelenskyy stated that Ukrainian intelligence indicates Moscow intends to exploit the distraction of American voters deciding control of Congress. "We have intel that Russia is preparing a new massive attack on our country – primarily targeting energy and logistics," he said. "The assumption is basically that tomorrow the world will be watching the American midterms, and what is happening here in Ukraine, along with our difficulties with air defense and Patriot missiles, will be overlooked."

The warning comes as Ukraine faces ongoing Russian strikes amid a harsh winter season and shortages of air defense interceptors. Zelenskyy urged the United States and allies to ramp up economic pressure on Moscow by restricting Russian oil and gas revenues, arguing that such measures could force an end to the conflict. "We must put pressure on Russia in such a way that it has no alternative but to end this war. America can do this, the world can do this," he added.

The alert follows recent Russian strikes, including an attack on a school used as a humanitarian aid distribution point and civilian shelter in the Zaporizhzhia region that killed at least 26 people. Zelenskyy pledged that Ukraine would respond to any further aggression.

The midterms, held on November 3, could shape future U.S. policy toward the war, with potential implications for aid and sanctions under the current administration. Zelenskyy's comments align with broader calls for decisive action to deny Russia economic gains from continued fighting.
